Lifestyles for Seniors

  • Seniors Canada On-Line  - is a web site sponsored by the Canadian government.
  • Age of Reason - strives to provide practical information relative to senior lifestyles -- Many links to sites of interest to the over 50 age group (a.k.a. Seniors On-Line). 
  • Manitoba Seniors' and Healthy Aging Directorate - is a central point of contact for seniors, their families, and organizations. It also provides copies of its publications and valuable links to other seniors' websites.
  • Seniors World Newsletter - is a non-partisan compilation of links to some of the latest news items from around the globe affecting seniors of all stripes and ages.

  • McGill Centre for Continuing Education - "MILR is a community of mature learners where the emphasis is placed on 'peer learning' through participation in self-directed study groups of 7 to 20 members."
  • Creative Retirement Manitoba - A highly acclaimed guide for retirees to Manitoban, Canadian and global information and services.
  • Virtual Museum Of Canada - A great site full of interesting learning opportunities, it has a range of beautifully presented topics for personal study and enjoyment.

Wellness

  • Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging - CCAA is Canada’s leader in current research and program development for improved physical ability and healthy aging for older adults. It is a not-for-profit national research and education centre within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario.
  • Health Canada - Addresses health topics including cancer, hepatitis, natural health products, STDs, smoking, and food and nutrition.
  • Dietitians of Canada - Eat Well, Live Well - Comprehensive nutritional resources. Includes a meal planner and fact sheets for healthy eating.
  • Women's Health Matters - Evidence-based and updated information on women's health and news, and research findings on women's diseases and lifestyle trends.
  • Seniors Fraud - A Brockville police site that explains many of the frauds perpetrated against seniors. Be aware of these for your financial protection.
  • Canadian Pharmacists Association: This site has a page dedicated to consumer/patient information.
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada: This site has a page with a comprehensive patient education program listing of information.
  • MedBroadcast: Condition and disease information. The contents of this site are for informational purposes only and are meant to be discussed with your physician or other qualified health care professional before being acted on.
  • Medscape: This site has a listing of speciality sites and the latest medical news.
  • DrugWatch: This is a comprehensive website database featuring extensive information about thousands of different medications and drugs currently on the market or previously available worldwide. DrugWatch.com includes up-to-date information about prescription and over-the-counter medications and includes details about associated side effects to aid in the protection of patients and consumers.
  • Mesothelioma Prognosis: Mesotheliomais a deadly disease that afflicts 3,000 people each year and that number is expected to grow in conjunction with the widespread use of asbestos throughout the last century.
  • Canadian Health Care Coalition: The Canadian Health Coalition is a public advocacy organization dedicated to the preservation and improvement of Medicare. Its membership is comprised of national organizations representing nurses, health care workers, seniors, churches, anti-poverty groups, women, students and trade unions in 9 provinces and one territory.
  • Canadian Drug Rehab Centres: The Canadian Drug Rehab Centres directory addresses the increasing demand for current and comprehensive resources relating to residential treatment programs and outpatient rehabilitation programs in Canada only. It provides information that is necessary, reliable and convenient.
