Mission:
Without infringing on the independence and the autonomy of the
member organizations,
the mission of CNSO is to influence and
shape legislation, policies and programs related
to seniors and
aging.
Motto: CNSO guides all of its activities on the
basis of the motto:
"
It is the right for every Canadian to age
with dignity and in security."
"Chaque Canadien devrait pouvoir vieillir avec dignité et en
sécurité."
Objects:
Without infringing on the autonomy of the member organizations, CNSO
aims to:
Promote sharing, liaison and mutual assistance
between the member organizations;
Play a role in influencing legislation, policy and
program development;
Develop strategies for joint action on matters of
common concern to the member organizations;
Be a Canadian non-partisan entity making Canadians
more aware of the issues facing seniors;
Cooperate with other organizations on matters of
common concern;
Enable seniors to become more self reliant, to
support one another and to pool their efforts in order to better
their quality of life and be more autonomous;
Encourage seniors to share through an
inter-generational approach their experiences, knowledge, skills
and wisdom for the good of the other members of society;
Promote research, publication and discussion of
information related to seniors and aging.

On October 15, 2010 a
general meeting of the Board of the Congress of National
Seniors Organizations was held in Ottawa. In addition to
its Executive, Directors and Observers, other national
organizations interested in joining CNSO were also
present. Hon. Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State -
Seniors, (6th from left) was the keynote speaker.
Sylvia Ceacero (1st on left) is the President of
CNSO.

discusses the issues and makes
recommendations for society's most vulnerable including low-income
earners and seniors.
